Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me

1992

Snoqualmie, Washington

David Lynch

Horror Drama

What’s it all about: A group of evil spirits gets into crafting and makes a ring out of formica that causes all kinds of problems for paranormal FBI agents and teenage prostitutes in the Pacific Northwest. Ray Wise, Al Strobel and Sheryl Lee have a screaming match in traffic that is more terrifying than any of the murders. And the nightclubs in Canada are way better than the ones in Washington State.

First Encounter: at the movies

Prostitute Index: high

Death By: botched drug deal

Relics: 50s cars and clothing in the 90s;

Hoops: the girl who senses danger and naturally goes to investigate

Heartthrobs: Phoebe Augustine, Eric DaRe, Rick Aiello

Pass/Fails the Test of Time: Sheryl Lee when she’s not wrapped in plastic

LoFi Magic: film collage of tv snow and monkey faces; backwards talk at a rock-and-roll strip club

Words to live by: “We live inside a dream.”

Makes me want to: go for a walk in the woods

Candotti Take: “I went to the library when I was a kid, and I liked the cover (of “The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer”) – I liked the picture and I read the book. But I thought it was all real, for many years, until you told me about the show.”
